As our community prepares for the snowstorm expected this weekend, I want to reassure you that we are closely monitoring conditions. The safety of our students, staff, and families remains our highest priority. Please make sure your phone numbers and emergency contacts are up to date in the Genesis Parent Portal. Timely communication is essential during weather events.
I am tracking forecasts and remain in regular communication with the City of Linden Office of Emergency Management, the National Weather Service, district security and maintenance teams, and city partners. Decisions are guided by real-time updates on road conditions, building access, bus routes, and safe transportation. District crews, in coordination with the Linden Department of Public Works, are working to ensure safe access to buses and school buildings.
Families will receive weather-related updates through the following channels:

Please keep the following in mind:
โข If schools are closed, before- and after-care programs and 21st Century programs will also be closed.

We recognize that misinformation of this nature can cause fear and anxiety, particularly for students and families for whom immigration-related issues are deeply personal. Please know that the safety, dignity, and emotional well-being of every child we serve remain our highest priorities.
The District administration, faculty, and staff work in close alignment with our local partners and have clear procedures and protocols in place to protect all students every day. We will continue to protect your children as if they were our own.
If any school were to receive an inquiry regarding the immigration status of a student or family, district procedures require immediate referral to the Superintendent of Schools and legal counsel to review any documentation that may be presented. Does your child have health insurance? If not, we invite you to join us for a special NJ FamilyCare Enrollment Event on January 27th, 2026. This event is designed to provide hands-on assistance to help you enroll your children in affordable healthcare coverage.

What to Bring:
To complete the enrollment process, please bring the following documents:

Happy New Year LPS families,
On Friday, December 19, 2025, before we headed out for Winter break, the Multilingual Department hosted their 2nd coat drive and distribution event at the PDRC! In partnership with our wonderful LPS community and surrounding Union County cities, 300 winter items and books were donated and distributed to the 150 attendees of various ages. Donations included coats, gloves, hats, boots, scarves, and more. The Multilingual Department would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to this cause, aiding in keeping families warm this Winter. The ML Department is committed to supporting students and families through the Multilingual Welcome Center, by organizing various community events and providing resources in collaboration with community partners. Thank you to all of the families who attended, we hope to see you again at our next coat drive and upcoming events throughout the remainder of the year!

I wish everyone a joyful and peaceful winter break on this last Sunday before winter break. We have
important updates and reminders for our winter break schedule:
โข Tuesday, December 23, will be a half day with no lunch served.
โข Schools will be closed from December 24 to 26, December 29 to 31, and January 1 to 2.
โข Students will return on Monday, January 5.
During the break, our Buildings and Grounds Department will remain active, and offices will be open on
December 30. High School Athletics will continue their competitions, and we wish our student-athletes
success as they represent Linden with pride.
As we close out the first half of the school year, I would like to take a moment to celebrate our students.
They have demonstrated resilience, seized new opportunities, achieved at high levels, and fostered
strong relationships throughout our schools. We have maintained strong attendance rates of 90% or
higher in most of our schools, reflecting the collective commitment of our students, families, staff, and
community to prioritizing education. Your dedication to ensuring your children are present and engaged
every day makes a meaningful difference in their success.
The holiday season can bring joy and celebration, but it can also bring stress and challenges. I encourage
families to prioritize rest, connection, and mental health during this break. Check in with your children
about how they are feeling and create space for open conversations. The holidays look different for
every family, so approach this season with kindness and understanding. Whether you are celebrating
traditions, spending quiet time together, or navigating difficult circumstances, our school community is
here to support you. We want every student to return in January feeling refreshed and ready to learn.
My thoughts are filled with warm wishes for everyone, hoping that all are surrounded by love and cheer.
We are grateful for the generosity shown through our district-wide food drives, coat drives, and toy
drives. This season prompts us to pause and give straight from the heart. I appreciate how our
administrators, support staff, and teachers demonstrate this daily commitment. We are progressing with
gratitude and ROAR pride as we celebrate our mission of providing a nurturing learning environment
for all our students.
As you travel and celebrate with loved ones, please prioritize safety and well-being.
