Districtwide tribute puts survivorsโ stories, strength and resilience in the spotlight
LINDEN PUBLIC SCHOOLS, NJ (Oct. 28) โ Pink was everywhere Wednesday, Oct. 28. The stories behind it made the day matter.
Across Linden Public Schools, staff wore pink and students accessorized their uniforms in pink, standing together in hope and support as Breast Cancer Awareness Month drew toward its close.
A Moment for the Survivors
At School No. 8, breast cancer survivors gathered for a group photograph and shared their stories. The occasion offered more than a picture: time to listen, recognize their experiences and celebrate being here.
Superintendent Dr. Atiya Y. Perkins joined the gathering, offering encouragement and thanking the survivors for their strength and resilience. Their stories reflected the districtโs ROAR values, particularly Resilience and Relationships, through the challenges they had faced and the support surrounding them.
A District Dressed in Support
Throughout the district, others gathered for photographs in their buildings or posed alongside their classes. Some smiled for group portraits. Others shared a playful moment with students. Together, the images captured a community showing its care.
That spirit has extended to Lindenโs athletic fields and courts throughout October. Athletes added pink to their uniforms, while the annual varsity volleyball Pink Out brought students, staff, families and survivors together to โDig for a Cure.โ
More Than a Color
Wednesdayโs tribute reflected Priority 5: Community and Stakeholder Partnership, bringing staff, students and families together around a cause that touches many lives.
The pink will give way to Lindenโs familiar orange and black. The people celebrated, and the support surrounding them, remain part of the Tiger family.
