Students Travel the Globe in 180 Days

Annual Before and After Care celebration showcases global learning, creativity, and cultural exploration by Linden's youngest learners

LINDEN PUBLIC SCHOOLS, NJ -- Linden's youngest learners proved that big discoveries can come from small explorers as students, families, and staff gathered June 16 for the annual "Around the World in 180 Days" celebration, the culminating event for the district's Before and After Care Program.

Throughout the school year, elementary students immersed themselves in the study of countries around the globe, learning about their histories, cultures, traditions, landmarks, and people. The celebration provided an opportunity for each elementary school to proudly showcase the projects, displays, and activities students created as part of their international journey.

Families and guests traveled from country to country through colorful exhibits that reflected months of learning, creativity, and collaboration. Interactive arts and crafts stations allowed visitors to experience cultural traditions firsthand, while food samples representing nations from around the world offered a taste of global cuisine.

One of the evening's highlights was a spirited folk-dance performance by students from School No. 9, whose energetic presentation brought culture, music, and movement together in front of an enthusiastic audience.

The event highlighted how even the district's youngest students can develop a deeper understanding of the world around them through hands-on learning experiences that encourage curiosity, creativity, and cultural appreciation.

The district also extends its gratitude to Pinhos Bakery in Roselle for its generous donation of pastries, which helped make the evening even more memorable for attendees.
