LINDEN PUBLIC SCHOOLS, N.J. — With the postseason spotlight approaching, Linden’s boys and girls track and field teams head into this weekend’s NJSIAA Sectional Championships fueled by momentum, experience, and a season defined by growth and perseverance.
The Tigers will compete in the Group 1 and Group 4 sectional meets against some of the state’s top athletes, led by a mix of veteran seniors and rising underclassmen looking to extend their seasons.
Senior Elijah S. will make his final sectional appearance in the 800-meter run, while fellow senior Braeden looks to build on his Indoor Meet of Champions success in the high jump. Junior Christian C. enters the postseason competing in the 100m, 200m, and long jump, and junior Joshua P. will represent Linden in discus competition.
Sophomores Jeremiah O. and Edy Z. return to the 400m after qualifying for sectionals as freshmen last season. Jeremiah enters the weekend with a personal-best time of 52.44. Freshman Jamison A. is also set to make his sectional debut in the 800m.
The boys 4x100-meter relay team will look to continue its late-season improvement and chase a season-best performance with hopes of advancing to the next round.
On the girls side, Linden’s 4x100-meter relay team enters the weekend as one of the section’s top contenders. The quartet of Sahniyyah M., Claribel A., Emely P., and Myesha H.-R. placed third at the County Relays with a season-best time of 50.80 and currently ranks sixth in the section.
Together, the teams have reflected the district’s emphasis on perseverance, leadership, teamwork, and student growth — values that continue to shape Linden athletics both on and off the track.
