LINDEN PUBLIC SCHOOLS, NJ -- Linden Public Schools proudly celebrates Superintendent Dr. Atiya Y. Perkins for her published opinion article, "How to Tackle Chronic Absenteeism with Human-Centered Solutions," featured on April 16, 2026. Dr. Perkins' expertise and leadership in addressing one of education's most pressing challenges demonstrate Linden's commitment to student success and community partnership. When student attendance rises, student outcomes soar.
"Our strategic plan prioritizes student attendance as a cornerstone of academic success, and under our Board of Education's vision, Linden has achieved a 93.6% district-wide attendance rate as of April 13," stated Dr. Perkins. "This success reflects our human-centered approach through partnerships with Concentric Educational Solutions and our Linden High School Team, our every school's Attendance Review Team that engages families in collaborative problem-solving, and targeted interventions addressing attendance patterns by age and location. All teams meet weekly to review data and establish interventions and celebratory experiences for students and families. Recognizing that ninth-grade attendance directly correlates to high school graduation rates, we operate with one clear principle: failure is not an option. Our portrait of a graduate ROARs with a high school diploma in hand. We know the mission is possible to combat chronic absenteeism because, when student attendance rises, student outcomes soar."
We are proud of our Superintendent's thought leadership and our collective commitment to ensuring every Linden student has the opportunity to thrive.
