The Mike Rice led Linden boys (16-9, 9-4 UCC Watchung), ranked No. 8 in the state, return to their home floor as the No. 2 seed in the section. The Tigers are looking to regroup after a 69-57 loss to eventual Union County champion Roselle Catholic in last week’s county semifinals, where senior forward Jekhi Burnam scored 24 points.
Linden defeated Westfield twice during the regular season -- 67-47 on Jan. 15 and 69-40 on Feb. 7 -- and has won four of the last five meetings overall. Westfield (9-18, 1-11 UCC Watchung) enters seeking a postseason reset after a challenging regular season.

Earlier in the afternoon, the Tamecka Dixon led Linden girls (11-17) will look to carry late-season momentum into state play. The Tigers are coming off a 55-50 road victory over Metuchen, their second straight win, fueled by a 20-point performance from Khloe Thomas and 15 points from Janali Thomas.
Columbia (18-7), which finished 9-1 in the SEC–Liberty Division, will have home-court advantage and enters with one of the stronger resumes in the section.
Both games mark the start of single-elimination state tournament play, with the winners advancing to the sectional quarterfinals.
