LINDEN PUBLIC SCHOOL, NJ -- Third-seeded Linden High School will take the court Thursday night (Feb. 19) with a trip to the championship on the line when it faces second-seeded Roselle Catholic in the semifinal round of the Union County Tournament at Kean University.
Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
Linden (16-8), ranked No. 8 in the state by NJ.com, advanced with a 60-39 quarterfinal victory over Scotch Plains-Fanwood on Saturday (FEB. 14) at the Dunn Center in Elizabeth. The Tigers broke open a one-point halftime game with an 18-8 third quarter and extended the lead in the fourth.
Jayden Holman led Linden with 15 points, connecting on four 2-point field goals and two 3-pointers. Asante Jones added 11 points, Deng Deng scored 10, and Mouhamed Cisse finished with seven. Jaren Barnett contributed seven, Jekhi Burnam had five, and Abraham Desrosiers added three.
Scotch Plains-Fanwood (12-13) was led by Jayvon Young with 10 points.
Roselle Catholic (18-6), ranked No. 6 in the state by NJ.com, reached the semifinals with a 71-49 victory over Johnson. The Lions defeated Linden twice during the regular season, 78-63 on Jan. 29 and 53-46 on Jan. 6.
The semifinal marks the third meeting between the Union County Conference Watchung Division rivals this season.
The other semifinal will feature top-seeded Plainfield against fourth-seeded Elizabeth.
Tuesdayโs winners will meet in the championship game on Sunday, Feb. 22, at 2 p.m. at Kean University.
