LINDEN PUBLIC SCHOOLS, NJ -- As we wind down the 2026 edition of National School Counseling Week (February 2–6), we extend heartfelt thanks to the 14 counselors who serve as a steady, guiding force across our schools.
According to Ryan M. Devaney, Supervisor of Student Services, “our department is made up of many professionals who collaborate to assist students and families with their academic, social, and emotional needs.” At the center of that work are school counselors.
“School counselors are an essential pillar of our schools,” Devaney said. While much of their work happens behind the scenes, “its impact is profound and far-reaching.”
Every day, counselors guide students through academic planning, social-emotional growth, mental-health challenges, and college and career decision-making—helping them build confidence, resilience, and direction. Through close collaboration with families, educators, and community partners, they help create safe, inclusive, and supportive environments where students feel seen, heard, and valued.
As this week comes to a close, our appreciation does not. We thank our counselors for their compassion, advocacy, and unwavering commitment to student success. Their work matters—and its impact lasts.
