LINDEN PUBLIC SCHOOLS, NJ โ The Linden Board of Education welcomed Rempee Kalia as its newest member during the Boardโs Dec. 15 meeting, where she was sworn in by Mayor Derek Armstead before Board members, district leadership, family members, and community residents.
Kalia took the oath of office with her brother, Vikas Kalia, holding the Bible as Mayor Armstead administered the swearing-in.
Before administering the oath, Armstead offered brief remarks highlighting the energy and commitment of the Boardโs newest member.
โWith many of our Board members being young and bringing a lot of energy, I am certain you are going to do a great job,โ Armstead said.
Following the ceremony, Kalia expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve and for the support of those in attendance.
โIโm very excited to be here tonight to be sworn in to the Board of Education,โ Kalia said. โIโm grateful to everyone who came out, especially my family, to be part of this moment.โ
Kalia fills the vacancy left by Samuel De La Cruz.
She brings a strong background in data analysis, technology, and public-sector service, aligning with the districtโs emphasis on evidence-based decision-making and fiscal responsibility. Her professional experience includes work with Deloitteโs Government and Public Services practice, the U.S. Department of the Treasury, the United Nations, and the U.S. House of Representatives, where she supported strategic planning, data systems, and accountability initiatives.
With advanced training in computer science, financial analysis, and digital platforms, Kalia offers an analytical perspective to Board governance as the district continues to expand innovation, technology integration, and student-centered initiatives.
Kalia begins her tenure at a time of continued growth for Linden Public Schools, as the district advances strategic planning efforts, strengthens community partnerships, and expands opportunities for students across all grade levels.
