LINDEN PUBLIC SCHOOLS, NJ -- Soehl Middle School proudly welcomed 24 eighth-grade students into the prestigious National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) during a formal induction ceremony that celebrated the core values of scholarship, leadership, service, character, and citizenship.

Held in the schoolโs auditorium and attended by proud families, faculty, and peers, the event highlighted the remarkable accomplishments of students who not only excel academically but also model integrity, civic responsibility, and a strong commitment to their school community.
The ceremony was attended by Superintendent Dr. Atiya Y. Perkins, Board of Education Members Malaysia Thomas and Brianna Armstead, who joined in celebrating the accomplishments of the inductees.
According to NJHS advisors, eligibility is limited to 8th-grade honors students who maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher and receive teacher recommendations based on the Societyโs five pillars. Students who meet the initial criteria are invited to submit an essay explaining how they embody those values and why they should be considered for membership.
Superintendent Perkins commended the inductees for their leadership and determination. โTo lead others, you must first be a leader of yourselfโฆ People believe in you. Keep pushing forward,โ she told the students.
Principal Gwendolyn Long echoed those sentiments, describing the inductees as โdedicated individuals who are proud, strong-willed, and leaders in training.โ She expressed hope that their example would inspire younger students to follow in their footsteps.
Once inducted, NJHS members are expected to maintain their GPA and uphold the highest standards of character and conduct as role models within the school community.
