LINDEN PUBLIC SCHOOLS, NJ -- After months of dedication, late nights, and relentless passion, our very own superintendent, Dr. Atiya Y. Perkins, has officially earned her 𝐃𝐨𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭!
On Thursday evening (March 27), nearly 70 friends, family, and colleagues tuned in via Zoom to witness her powerful dissertation defense: “𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐔𝐬𝐞 𝐄𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐭-𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬.”
A timely, transformational study that reflects the very leadership she models every day.
But the celebration didn’t stop there.
After a well-deserved celebration with her family, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐬 was back at it today—making her rounds across the district, visiting schools, and reconnecting with students and staff. Her day culminated with a surprise clap-out at the administrative building, where she was met with hugs, flowers, balloons, cheers, and joyful tears from the central office team.
It was a moment of love, respect, and pure Linden pride—a reminder that our leader not only talks the talk, she walks it, in heels, with a doctorate in hand.
We are inspired. We are grateful. And we are cheering loud and proud for Dr. Perkins—a true example of what it means to lead with heart, purpose, and power.
