𝙻𝙸𝙽𝙳𝙴𝙽 𝙿𝚄𝙱𝙻𝙸𝙲 𝚂𝙲𝙷𝙾𝙾𝙻𝚂, 𝙽𝙹 — On a frosty Monday morning, December 23, with bone-chilling temperatures in the single digits, School No. 9 delivered more than pajamas—they delivered warmth and comfort to children in need.
Through their participation in the Scholastic Reading Club’s Great Bedtime Story Pajama Drive, the school collected 495 pairs of pajamas to benefit Pajama Program, a nonprofit organization supporting children in Union County.
The drive, which began on Oct. 25 with a school-wide Pajama Day, initially set a goal of 435 pairs. Thanks to the generosity of students, families, and staff, the school exceeded expectations, providing cozy pajamas to brighten bedtime for many children.
“This project is such a wonderful way for our school to come together and help children who need it most,” said 4th grade math teacher Theresa Rogakos, who coordinated the drive. “Seeing the outpouring of support from our School No. 9 family is truly heartwarming.”
On Monday morning, a representative from the Division of Child Protection and Permanency (DCP&P) arrived to collect the donations, ensuring that the gift of comfort and warmth reaches children who need it most.
School No. 9’s participation in the Pajama Drive shows how a small act of kindness, like a pair of pajamas, can make a big difference—even on the coldest of mornings.
