  • Where do families order the required uniform shirts?

    Uniform ordering is quick and simple! Click on the Linden PS Uniform Store link to the right, which will bring you to the district-approved vendor for purchasing branded school uniforms.

  • What are the uniform requirements under Policy 5511?

    Here’s a quick breakdown of what students must wear starting September 2025:

    • Tops:

      • Solid black, navy blue, or orange polo shirts (short or long sleeves)

      • Optional – LINDEN Public Schools branding (*Shirts should either display the official “LINDEN Public Schools” logo or no other markings.)

      • Be free of other logos, designs, or graphics

      • Allow white, black, or navy undershirts/layers only

    • Bottoms:

      • Khaki or solid black pants, shorts, skirts, skorts, or jumpers

      • Skirts/shorts/skorts must be no more than 2 inches above the knee

    • Indoor Outerwear:

      • Solid black, navy, or orange sweaters, cardigans, or sweatshirts

      • No outside logos or hoods up inside the building

    • Footwear:

      • Closed-toe shoes or sneakers

      • No slippers, slides, flip-flops, or high heels (over 2 inches)

    • PE Days:

      • Solid black, navy or orange t-shirts or school spirit shirts

      • Solid black or khaki sweatpants or shorts

      • School-branded gear is preferred

    • NOT PERMITTED:

      • Jeans, leggings (unless under skirts), denim, jeggings, or cargo pants

  • What if families have unique or specific questions?

  • Are accommodations or exemptions available?

    Yes! The policy allows for approved exceptions:

    • Families seeking religious, cultural, or other accommodations should submit a written request to the school principal.

    • Approved exemptions will be fully honored—students will not be penalized.

  • Do UCVT (Union County Vo-Tech) students need to wear uniforms?

    Yes, but only when attending classes at Linden High School.

    • While on-site at LHS, UCVT students must be in full uniform.

    • When attending classes off-site, the uniform is not required—but students must change into it before returning to LHS.

Survey Period: March 10 – April 29, 2025
Total Responses: 2,402

To ensure broad participation and community input, the district launched a multi-channel campaign to promote the Mode of Dress Uniform Survey:

  • Survey Launch & Follow-Up – The SurveyMonkey link opened March 10, with reminder emails sent March 20 and March 24

  • Direct School Outreach – Teachers and principals shared the link with parents via ClassDojo and District website messaging

  • Digital & Social Media Promotion – The survey was featured prominently on district social media channels and the district website.

  • Public Hearing & Fashion Showcase – On Tuesday, April 8 at 6:00 PM, a special public hearing was held on District Policy 5511, highlighted by a mini fashion show featuring elementary, middle, and high school students modeling district-branded uniforms.

  • On-Campus Visibility – The policy and survey were promoted on schoolmarquees.
